Product overview: Fluke 810 Vibration Tester

When you need an answer now...

Control unplanned downtime, prevent recurring problems, set repair priorities and manage your resources with an entirely new approach to vibration testing.

The Fluke 810 Vibration Tester is the most advanced troubleshooting tool for mechanical maintenance teams who need an answer now. The unique diagnostic technology helps you quickly identify and prioritize mechanical problems, putting the expertise of a vibration analyst in your hands.

You take pride in your facility, your team, and your work. You do what it takes to keep things up and running, but sometimes there is not enough time or resources to keep up with the workload, let alone be proactive about mechanical maintenance. The Fluke 810 Vibration Tester puts you one step ahead by coupling a powerful diagnostic engine with a simple step-by-step process to report on specific machine faults and their severity the first time measurements are taken, without prior measurement history. Overall vibration measurements and spectral diagrams give technicians the ability to quickly asses overall machine health, while actionable recommendations give you the confidence you need to address critical problems first.

Use the Fluke 810 Vibration Tester to:

    • Troubleshoot problem equipment and understand the root cause of failure
    • Survey equipment before and after planned maintenance and confirm the repair
    • Commission new equipment and ensure proper installation
    • Provide quantifiable proof of equipment condition and drive investment in repair or replacement
    • Prioritize and plan repair activities and operate more efficiently
    • Anticipate equipment failures before they happen and take control of spare parts inventories

Rated 1 out of 5 by from The worst tool I have ever used. Our 810 has never worked properly. Now the software is no longer supported, yet they still sell this new. The tech goes all the way back to the 80's on this junk. Takes 30 minutes to load a result and we don't trust any code this machine has ever given after tearing pumps apart for no reason. Can't even make a PDF anymore for 12K investment.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Lame This is not a vibration analyzer, but a meter with 4 problem indicators. If your issue is not on their list you’re outta luck. Don’t buy this for the price. Buy this to ensure your people are frustrated and your program fails.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not what it is meant to be I have been using this for quite some time. It lacks a lot of features. For eg; 1. Bearing frequency markers not there 2. Phase analysis not possible 3. Worst data entry 4. Very slow processing 5. High frequency/ high resolution not available 6. Dont give live reading 7. Must have to completely take data at most points to be able to see values 8. Give increased values compared with other analyzers 9. Cannot change units of vibration once you have taken the readings 10. Have to change settings again and again to be able to perform time domain analysis (only 10 measurements can be performed in a row) And the list goes on and on...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great feature with lack of General Software This is a great tool for diagnosis. With existing hardware if the unit had the feature of Phase measurement and general analysis and trending capability then this would have been a great tool. If non standard faults arises there is no way to do phase analysis and other analysis. Only software up-gradation for general purpose and existing tools this will be best instrument. Assest management also difficult thing in the software. For example adding another option in data base before adding equipment. And some trending option etc. This is a good tool. Ibeliev this can be further improved by providing optional program modules with above software this makes ideal for all application from fresher to expert. Otherwise its required to buy another diagnosis instrument for general purpose.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for starting vibration program on "motors" We are growing our predictive maintenance program and purchased the Fluke 810 as a beginners-level for vibration analysis. For motor inspections, this is a great tool. We compared the diagnostics with our current vibration vendor and the diagnosis is spot on. This is not an advanced data collector and the software is not great for trending data. It is a good entry level tool for monitoring motors.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Questionable I have had the Fluke 810 for a couple of years, and since first owning this I have become a certified vibration analyst. First of all the accompanying software is not anything that you would ever build a program on. It is not modular, difficult to navigate through, gets bogged down and there is no real effective way to trend anything. The good is that with this meter you have more than you would if you didn't have anything. My biggest issues with the device is the LOR in the spectrum which for example I have a spectrum I am looking at right now and it literally only has 800 LOR which equates to about 2048 samples which leaves me almost a full 1HZ gap between signals in low range. The high range is supposed to be adjusted accordingly so resolution is maintained, but that isn't the case with this meter. Its resolution in the high range in reference to low range I mentioned above is 8 HZ. In order to gain good insight while looking at at TWF there needs to be about 6+ rotations of the shaft in order to see what's truly going on, but in most of these TWF I only get around 3 which isn't even close to what I need. So some will say the meter does the troubleshooting, but over the course of the last couple of years it has been wrong more than it has been right. When you input your shaft speed it seems to lock onto problems regarding it because it sets that as the fundamental frequency of the machine, but there have been many instances such as a 4/6 combination of a screw compressor that it didn't calculate and account for all the different harmonics, pulsations, or even different fundamental frequencies that occur in the screw and there are several with different combinations of the 4/6 potentially showing up in the spectrum. I have even seen a case study by Fluke with a tech testing a screw compressor. I would never use this meter and depend solely on its diagnostics to schedule an extremely expensive ammonia compressor repair in my plant. So it can't be disputed, I collect very repeatable data with pads that the accelerometer is attached to in every location. I record and control the load and and machine condition as needed so this is accounted for. I attempt to analyze most of the spectrum and TWF that I get from the meter, but I spend a lot of time struggling with complex equipment because I simply do not have the resolution. Lastly, I use plenty of Fluke products so in no way am I biased against using this brand. I personally only use Fluke process and multi-meters. The one good thing I like about the specs of this meter is that the dynamic range is definitely sufficient. I have found that with tri-axial sensors that the most accurate axis in regards to amplitude sensitivity is the axis that is directly impacted with vibration and not the 2 shear axes.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from DONT BUY THIS PRODUCT We purchased this product and good luck getting the cables you need. I have purchased this product and ordered a 20 ft cable that Fluke claims you can get. However, it was ordered 8 weeks ago and I keep getting the run around regarding the cable. The reason why you cant get the 20 ft cable is you have to purchase them in bundles of 100 cables. Fluke needs to get this problem addressed. The seven foot cable is too short for rotating equipment, it puts your technicians in harms way and Fluke should know this. If you can get a vibration tester anywhere else I recommend going there instead. I am about to return the 8500.00 paper weight. Furthermore, if someone from Fluke can get me this cable within the next week I will remove my comment and even replace it with a positive one. Good Luck Fluke.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great meter for properties that prefer preventive maintenance over reactive maintenance I have used this on a few different high rise buildings on equipment ranging from very old and neglected (50 years or more) to relativly new variable frequency driven pumps and fans. The results were very impressive and accurate. I have come across bearing loosness faults that were confirmed when the motor was taken apart, and fan imbalance faults on 2 different severity levels and both were confirmed when balanced(even to the amount) I would consider this a must have for new buildings with lots of bearing eating vfd's with motors that don't have isolators. Seems to be common from the last 3 buildings I have worked at including a city water plant. The machine is very easy to set up and use and after a few machines I was confident with what I was doing and when I did have a question, fluke was quick to get back with an answer I gave it a 4 out of 5 star rating only because I wish it had more options on the software, is does have a place to insert a thermal image pdf. But other than that I can not edit the layout. I would like to be able to attach other preventive maintenance info to the same file such as lubrication schedules, belt changes and other important info.
