Product overview: Fluke VR1710 Single Phase Power Quality Recorder & Voltage Recorder

The Fluke VR1710 Power Quality Recorder, is a single-phase, plug-in voltage quality recorder that offers an extremely easy-to-use solution for detecting and recording power quality problems, allowing for immediate action and less downtime. The VR1710 single phase recorder satisfies the needs of maintenance and facilities management personnel in industrial, utilities, and large service organizations where reliable power quality is essential to the operation of the business. Power quality parameters including RMS average, transients, flicker, and harmonics up to the 32nd are recorded using a user-selected average period from 1 seconds to 20 minutes.

Other useful features:

  • Offers continuous recording of all values with no gaps to create a complete picture with one instrument
  • Measures Min/Max/Average RMS values (1/4 cycle) with time stamp so you can quickly see what happened and when
  • Presents actual transient display (>100 μs) with time stamp to help you identify power quality issues quickly with included graphical software
  • Records flicker to EN 61000-4-15 and individual harmonic and THD values with trends to help you easily determine if the problem is power quality or equipment related
  • Provides statistical analysis of single-phase voltage events. Reduces analysis time by tracking event quantities and magnitudes
  • Includes PowerLog software package for quick download, analysis, and automatic reporting

When looking at the Transient tab in Powerlog, is the graph showing showing peak or rms voltage? For instance I am seeing transient spikes on the graph to 180 volts. Is that really just 127 volt rms spikes?

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Maintainance Electrician We had one used it many time. Found that if the noise on the line was a quick spike or drop the recorder would only pick it up if the the time was set very close that would only give us around a day of recording. Not enough memory for what I would like. Good for general voltage sage of a longer period. I would like to find something like this with more memory.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Fine On Windows 10 I'm not sure if I needed to go this far, but I downloaded the software from the CD onto a Windows XP computer to extract the files. I then copied them to my Windows 10 computer via a USB jump drive and it seems like it works just fine now. I did need my IT department to verify that a COM port (in the COM1-COM9 range) was available for the meter to pull data (I have no clue what "COM port" language means, but it apparently was enough for IT to set things straight).

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Outdated software Does not have USB drivers as from Windows 7. Can only support Windows XP downwards. Wasted money for nothing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Simply plug-in and begin logging The Fluke VR1710 is an easy to use affordable option for logging single phase power quality. The free software included is easy to use. Just plug it directly into the power socket and capture data. Effortlessly log RMS, transients, flicker, and harmonics up to the 32nd.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from High failure rate This is a nice device when it works, but our company has bought many of them and we have experienced a very high failure rate. When they fail the repair is almost always just replacement which is very expensive.
