What does it mean when the fluke tester reads 11 G
It means your insulation resistance is very high. Does the display actually say this? >11G? It means your insulation resistance is greater than 11 gigohms, the limit to the meter's ability to measure insulation resistance on the high side.

What resistance reading is acceptable for when testing insulation with the 1000V option on the 1577 meter? We get a reading of >660 after our test.
Rated 3 out of 5 by Nilesh from Easy to Use Multiple Function We bought four of FC 1587 great product , only problem with 4 AA battery holders , suggest to stick to old 9V type battery . Most of them battery spring holders snap.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Paul Ahole from Easy to use. I had our company purchase one of these about 4 years ago, and it has come in handy on quite a few occasions. From testing the insulation, to a multimeter, it handles just about everything our shop needs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by clint1969 from Big time and money saver! This is a great way to save time when you are in the mass building industry. Its one tool that performs several operations with great accuracy. It is light weight and easy to operate. It is super lightweight and is easy to keep by your side with the magnetic hanging system that keeps both hands free for multi-tasking! It also has a captive discharge for added safety! I have bought one for each man on the crew and recommended to many others and have gotten 100% positive feedback. I am a repeat customer!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mikepb4d from Great meter Purchased the 1587 in January of 2015. It has performed flawlessly. Having a full functioning multimeter with a built in insulation tester in my tool bag is super convenient and is great for working on VFDs and motors. No more lugging around a hand crank insulation tester. Looking forward to upgrading to the 1587 with Fluke Connect.
